Associate Director, Packaging Development

MUST HAVE A PHARMACEUTICAL BACKGROUND OR RELATED!

 

Responsibilities of the Position:

• Direct and initiate the timely development of high quality, innovative packages worldwide based on Marketing and product development objectives.

• Develop the package utilizing the technical support groups (Manufacturing, Engineering) to achieve the intended design, quality, cost objectives, functionality and manufacturability.

• Provide a project feasibility: function, manufacturability, component cost, tooling estimates, timetable, risks, and global consistency for each of the designs.

• Support and summarize with critical issues and action-plan the design review process meeting with Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Regulatory and Quality Assurance.

• Prepare all regulatory Submission documentation to support registration of all packages

• Selection of sourcing with Purchasing, insuring the proper quality and economic benefits using Supply Base Management Guidelines.

• Review and sign all blueprints and develop the package specifications.

• Assure that packaging meets the needs of the brand, corporation, Regulatory and Environmental Legislation, and consumer safety.

• Actively participate on multifunctional teams providing leadership and creative solutions while exhibiting an enthusiastic flexible and positive attitude.

• Support the design and selection of packaging equipment.

 

A Successful Candidate will have:

• M.S. or B.S. in Mechanical or Materials Engineering

• 4 to 6 yrs R & D management or leadership experience within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry with demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems data gathered from a variety of sources and, through effective decision making and planning, to deliver superior business solutions.

• 10 years experience in successful global development of new packaging technologies and packaging manufacturing operations, with requisite knowledge of global regulatory requirements and quality systems.

• Experience interacting with Third Party Vendors, Contract Manufacturers, External Packaging Development Companies, External Packaging Equipment Design and Build Vendors.

• Strong scientific and engineering skills in a technical area applicable to packaging development.

• Strong meeting facilitation and decision making skills.

• Detail oriented.
